If politics were all about winning, then one could dismiss Andrew Scheer’s recent actions as strategic moves to win support at the polls. Of course, when politicians do and say things they know are wrong in order to win votes, they reinforce the perception that politics is a crooked business.

​How did Dr. Jordan Peterson become a household name? Very simply, he spoke out about the truth, against a lie — and then he dug in his heels and said he would be willing to go to jail rather than say things he did not believe!

Looking back at the events which commemorated D-Day yesterday, but especially back to D-Day itself, we see that Canada was—and is— the kind of friend that everyone needs. The kind of friend who comes with his pickup-truck to help you out when you need it most.

Thank God for giving each of us a conscience! Without a conscience, there would be no inner prompting, either to do good or to refrain from doing evil. Because God has written the law in our hearts (“written it to our hard drive,” to paraphrase), we can know how to avoid the things that displease our Maker, the Creator of heaven and earth.

How are our fundamental freedoms doing in Canada? It’s becoming very clear that our Constitutional Freedoms are something that only dinosaurs (like me) think the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (CCRF) should protect.

Is there anything you hate? Alarm clocks, for instance? Soggy cereal? Chalk screeching on a blackboard? We all have things we don’t like; there are some things we really don’t like.

​What is the penalty for interference in hockey? Just two minutes in “the box”. The penalty for interfering in Canada’s legal process must be more serious!

It’s just been revealed that the embattled SNC-Lavalin engineering company funnelled huge donations to the federal Liberals through its executives and their wives. Donations which these execs made were reimbursed through bonuses by SNC-Lavalin so it would have the veneer of legitimacy. That’s illegal.

Have you noticed that we’ve gone from being known as a tolerant, welcoming country to a country full of “Islamophobes,” “homophobes,” and sufferers of a growing list of phobias (irrational fears) that, according to our accusers, make us hateful and bigoted?

Freedom of thought, opinion and expression are hallmarks of Western civilization, for which we are all indebted to historic Jewish and Christian biblical values. The line of demarcation between those values and bigotry is the use or advocacy of violence to suppress such freedoms for others.

On the day before Good Friday, I pause to reflect on the events that we will remember over this weekend: the last supper and communion of our Lord with His disciples, the betrayal by His faithless friend, the rejection by spiritual leaders, the abandonment by his disciples, the agony of His separation from the Father as He took our judgment on Himself and finally, His death, burial and glorious resurrection...

​In Grade 10, I wrote an essay on a newspaper article I had read which was entitled “A Storm in a Teacup”. The article was about Pierre Trudeau who was one of the first national leaders to recognize The People’s Republic of China as a nation. No other nation had recognized the Communist government as being the legitimate government.
