Abortion

Abortion is the deliberate killing of a pre-born child thus denying them their most basic right—the right to life. Women who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy must have available social services to help them navigate the pregnancy. Whether it’s emotional support, physical support or protection from those who seek to force the ending of the pregnancy, pregnant women must be protected and helped through.

Adoption services must be upgraded to provide the opportunity for families to adopt a child with reasonable costs.

  • Abortion is the deliberate killing of an unborn child.
  • A medical practitioner who participates in an abortion procedure violates the commitment “first, do no harm.”
  • The government has a moral responsibility to provide financial assistance to social, community, and volunteer agencies that provide care and support for women during and after crisis pregnancies.
  • Medical treatment that is necessary to prevent the deaths of either the mother or the pre-born child, or both, but which results in the unintended death of either or both, is not an abortion.

Pearl Buck said it well, “the test of a civilization is the way that it cares for its helpless members.”

Canada must be known for the way we treat our pre-born who are unable to defend themselves.

Section 7 of the ‘Charter of Rights’ must be amended to qualify the term “everyone” with the words, “including a pre-born child from the moment of conception” as having the right to life, liberty and security of the person. The Criminal Code must be amended to recognize the personhood of all human beings, from conception to natural death, ensuring their rights under the Constitution.

CHP Canada will move to have the definition of “everyone” clarified in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to include the pre-born. Once this protection is in force, any person who performs or assists in an abortion, or arranges for a woman to have an abortion, would be charged with a criminal offence.

Any medical practitioner convicted of performing an abortion, or assisting in an abortion, or arranging for a woman to have an abortion would have his or her license suspended.

Any individual or corporation that manufactures, distributes, sells, or administers any drug or device for the purpose of procuring an abortion would be charged with a criminal offence.
