Education
- Public education falls under provincial jurisdiction BUT the federal government also has a responsibility to protect children from harm.
- Some provinces and the federal government have imposed school policies that are damaging children with “woke” ideologies, etc. The CHP would put an end to the harmful implementation of those ideologies.
- Parents are the first and most important educators of their own children and must be involved in decisions regarding moral teaching in the classrooms.
- The CHP would call on provincial educators to get back to the basics of math, science, history and literary skills.
According to Canada’s Constitutional division of powers, Education is deemed a provincial responsibility and the federal government ought not to intrude unnecessarily into its administration. However, in recent years, some provinces, following misapplied Charter rulings and operating under not-so-hidden agendas, have used provincial jurisdiction to impose immoral, unwise and damaging curricula on schools operating within their borders, even private Christian schools.
This has put a whole generation of school-aged children at risk and has denied parents their God-given role as primary protectors and educators of their own children. In the face of this cultural assault on the values of Christian parents and those of other faiths, it is not only permissible but essential that the federal government take a stand to protect the rights of parents and their children.
It is also well-known that actual scores in math and literacy have declined. Students and teachers have misused much classtime discussing “gender issues.” This time would have been more profitably spent learning history, geography, math, reading and writing skills and real science.
Federal funds are also spent on post-secondary institutions where increasing censorship of Christian ideas and ideals has overshadowed any actual skills development. The federal government should withdraw funding from any educational institution that uses its power to discriminate against traditional Christian philosophy. In some cases, the best use of funds would be to direct them to students who can “vote with their feet” and apply them to the colleges and universities where they will receive an education that will better prepare them for careers, family life and community involvements.
A CHP Canada federal government would:
- Lead the way by requiring that public educators be confined strictly to the academics leaving parents free to teach moral standards.
- Recognizing that parents are the first and primary educators of their own children, would require that public institution teach values acceptable to most Canadians such as justice, honesty, compassion, diligence, thrift and “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Public educational institutions ought not to impose ideologies in the classroom that violate the parent-child relationship and undermine the family beliefs taught in the home.
- Provide educational protection to our children by requiring that theories, such as man’s supposed ability to control climate change, be taught as theories rather than misleading our children through presenting theories as facts. There is a huge scientific difference between theorizing and presenting provable truths.
- In protection of our Canadian Charter rights, CHP will require post-secondary public educational institutions to allow freedom of thought and freedom of speech on social matters. No violent actions by students or teachers would be permitted and no actions by students or administration that endanger students or the public. Damage to school property or public property would be punishable by law.
- Direct approximately 80% of federal post-secondary funding into tuition vouchers sent directly to qualified students; this would increase competition among post-secondary institutions for students’’ tuition dollars, which would both bring down costs and stimulate true intellectual liberty. Such an agreement would, however, have to be negotiated with the provinces, to respect their constitutional jurisdiction.
- Since taxpayers already pay close to 80% of the cost of post-secondary education, the central problem is really not that the government is not doing enough. The problem for students is the amount of student debt they incur and the repayment schedule. The CHP proposes that federal student loans be interest-free and repayment-free for ten years after graduation, to allow grads to get well-established in their chosen career fields before they begin repaying their share of their tuition.
Gender Issues
Human sexuality has become a very public matter. The proclaimed “gender identity” of a small subgroup is expected to be affirmed in stores, schools and the streets. Laws have been passed that rob Canadians of their God-given right to disagree with this agenda. This is neither democratic nor a mark of a free society.
The federal government must protect the freedom to dissent and to protect children from viewpoints that clearly deny biological reality. We believe:
- There are two biological genders: male and female. This is self-evident. Each of these genders has a role to play in the continuation of our species.
- While a man may be given drugs for him to pretend to be a woman, and vice versa, this does not alter their actual gender. Even with surgery, a person’s DNA remains that of the gender in which they were born.
- Canadian children are being recruited into this deception while our laws protect the LGBTQ community’s activism. Parents, counsellors, pastors, etc who assist children or young adults wishing to abandon their assumed “gender identity” are now subject to potential criminal conviction. This is wrong!
Confusion has been created around genders causing women to lose their right to be exclusively women in society, sports and other areas. Boys have been feminized, and their God-given masculinity and has been demeaned as “toxic.” Girls are being victimized at schools through being forced to share washrooms and change rooms with biological males. This has created health hazards for them as they restrict their liquid intake and refuse to use toileting facilities during the school day. Children are being forced into “assigning themselves” a gender at ages where they should be playing—not pawns in sexual decisions. This confusion must end and protections that have historically been placed around women and girls restored.
A CHP Canada federal government would:
- protect Canadian children by revoking the legislation that violates their right to leave an ‘alternative lifestyle’ into which they have been lured.
- prohibit the luring of children into ‘alternative lifestyles’ through strict controls on the public education system and other children’s programs.
- Canadian healthcare dollars would be restricted from paying for “gender reassignment surgery,” hormone blockers or other attempts to artificially change an individual’s gender.
- will require that all public facilities, including schools, will be required to retain gender specific washrooms and, where applicable, change rooms and shower facilities.
- Women’s and Girl’s sports teams will be open to biological females only.
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) or woke philosophies, have been used as a whip to force social change through requiring acceptance of these ideologies or the individual being forced into “reeducation.” Freedom of speech and belief will be restored to Canadians by exposing and rejecting the logical fallacies introduced through these ideologies and abolishing all existing DEI programs.
