Start an EDA (Riding Association)
You have a dream, and you know it’s important. This dream is to offer a godly candidate to constituents in your electoral district in the next general election. A candidate who will fight for legislation to protect life at both ends of the spectrum. A candidate who will fight for your God-given rights and freedoms.
How do you make your dream a reality?
It starts with an electoral district association.
The primary functions of an electoral district association (EDA) is to: build membership, fundraise and field a candidate. These are essential components because through these, you are able to bring together a team to preplan and organize a campaign and, importantly, fund a campaign for your candidate.
You have an exciting vision, where people come together to support and field a candidate. But a vision that is seen by only one person is not enough; other members of your electoral district must see that vision. In 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. shared his vision of a brighter future in his “I Have a Dream” speech. That vision caught fire and changed the world.
You also CAN pass along your vision! What would Canada look like with restored freedoms? a mother’s womb being a safe place for a child? seniors and those with handicaps confident that their tomorrows will not be cut short through Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD)?
Where do I start?
Contact national office! Your vision must be passed on to others in your electoral district in order for it to move from a vision to a reality.
National office can help you reach out to other CHP members in your electoral district. We have brochures and packages of information to help you present CHP Canada to others.
Where do I find that gifted orator? that person who knows everyone? that financial whiz?
It’s simple but it isn’t easy!
Start with prayer! Lots of prayer from both you and your growing team! Talk to your friends and family to find others who can envision a candidate who supports the godly principles that you want in government.
The power of multiplication
From each new person, ensure that he or she, or you, or someone on your team makes contact with their like-minded acquaintances.
As you start building membership, observe the gifts of those being added to your team. Someone will have some developing or developed gifts that you need.
Not everyone that you ask will become a member but if you’ve sowed the seed of your vision, it may germinate, grow and bear fruit . . . although that may take place long after you’ve planted.
Not everyone that you ask will wish to serve on your executive, but that’s okay. One of the goals of an EDA is building membership and it may be through that person’s contacts that the Lord provides your sought-after executive member or candidate.
It may be simpler than you think
Let those with whom you speak see your enthusiasm and become excited by it.
Regularly meet with as many of your members as you can pull together. Help the members in your electoral district see what helping to build the CHP will do toward providing their children with a better future. Within the EDA, you have the benefit of having people with a like vision. Your role will be to help them translate the vision into action.
Your most important asset will be persevering until you break through.
But maybe you need help. Contact the national office any time that you need help. Maybe it’s a speaker for an event. Maybe it’s help to plan an event. Remember the power of multiplication . . . We know people who know people. Someone will be able to help you.
Today’s a great day to start planning your healthy, successful electoral district association. Contact national office, map your route, engage your members, and build your team.
