Terrorism and Screening
Terrorism is the use of violence and fear to achieve geopolitical, military, financial or ideological ends.
Canada currently identifies over 50 terrorist organizations active in Canada.
We have seen in 2024 an increase in the boldness of some these organizations, such as the “Free Palestine” movement, since the massacre, rape and kidnapping of Israeli’s at the Supernova Concert on Oct. 7, 2023 by Hamas.
Our city streets and our university campuses were overtaken with supporters for Palestine costing Canadians millions of dollars.
Pressure to allow Sharia Law, or any other legal system to coexist with Canadian laws is unacceptable. Sharia Law is incompatible with Canada’s culture and heritage and with Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Many of the tenets of Sharia Law are contrary to our Canadian legal system. Opposing laws can only confuse and fracture Canadian rights and freedoms.
CHP rejects Islamic cultural practices such as “honour-killings”, FGM (Female Genital Mutilation), forced marriages and forced conversion.
Government policies of allowing and even enabling illegal entry at various border locations, until 2023, seriously undermined the safety of Canadians, consumed significant amounts of resources and contributed to the growth of ethnic ghettoes in our cities. This has endangered Canadians as there were no controls over whether a terrorist or line-jumper was crossing into Canada.
The Canadian refugee and immigration system has failed to secure our nation from the threats posed by terrorism. Immigrants have received insufficient screening simply because the sheer size of the infrastructure required to screen such high numbers of immigrants does not exist in our Department of Immigration.
Today, very few immigrants are even interviewed by a Canadian visa officer. The sheer weight of numbers means the vast majority of applicants are processed on paper only. With these kinds of numbers arriving within our borders there is also insufficient time to integrate these newcomers into the broader fabric of Canadian society.
We have heard our government under Justin Trudeau admit that they were too slow in responding to the immigration crisis.
- Canada must stand firmly against terrorism at home and abroad.
- Canadians who participate in terrorism must not be allowed to return to Canada OR they must face criminal terrorist charges. They must not be allowed to become public martyrs for their cause.
- The $10 million award to Omar Khadr was an insult to our soldiers, our allies and all Canadian taxpayers.
Under a CHP Government, we would:
- Implement strong laws prohibiting alternative legals systems such as Sharia Law.
- Secure our borders
- Require full background screening before entering Canada
- Withdraw Canada from the Global Compact for Migration
