Quebec – Signpost of a Lost Society

Quebec’s proposed Charter of Values is indicative of a society that is lost, and equally, one totally ignorant that it’s building its structure without a stable foundation; all on sinking sand.

Let’s look at the bigger picture.

Today, many politicians, judges, professors, small interest groups, and even the media (who more openly reveal their own agenda,) push their individual or corporate values on society in attempts to establish what they consider are reasonable laws for our land. The real tragedy is that they operate oblivious to the fact that the society that they are engulfed in is one that has already lost its moral compass. The result of this tug-of-war of jumbled efforts is perpetual moral chaos.

American social critic Star Parker writing on her own nation’s cultural decay hits the nail on the head:

The claim that somehow it is a sign of a healthy, free society that by way of the vote we can rewrite our language, our dictionary, our oldest, time-tested traditions is a sign of how lost we are...taking personal choices to deviate from our social standards of right and wrong, true and false, and decide (sic) to change those truths and standards, so that nothing is any longer considered deviant, is a bridge to nowhere.

Our governments, courts, and educators in Canada once recognized moral absolutes.

I’m old enough to remember those days. What once made our country the number one place in the world to visit; what once gave us laws that protected our cherished freedoms, including that of religious freedom, is being trampled under by mass secular hysteria. Moral absolutes are being left undefended by those who slumber; those who are delinquent in their responsibility to this country; those who should be the protectors of our nation’s foundation – namely the Judeo-Christian community.

The historical importance and significance of the preamble to our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms that, “Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law,” has all but been forgotten. It’s much easier to slumber in complacency than it is to require that the defenders of the faith wake up and fight amidst the good times they are having.

It is the “biblical principles” that once formed the foundation of Canada’s public policy to which I’m referring. They are no longer being adequately defended. It is those principles that safeguarded the freedoms and religious liberties of all Canadians. Remnants of these principles still exist, which lulls too many Canadians into slumber.

The intentions of the Christian Heritage Party are certainly not to impose the Christian faith on society as some may have you believe. Rather, we are the defenders, who will ensure public policy always recognizes, reflects, and defends the validity of the time-tested and proven Biblical principles that guarantee the freedoms you have come to enjoy.

Biblical principles defend every individual’s right to view the world through the lens of whatever faith they choose, as long as that faith does not impair the same right for others.

Secularism and Islam are not neutral; rather they are worldviews which, at times, impair the rights of others. Therefore, those ideologies, which include Sharia, have no place in the decision-making bodies of our Canadian Governments, Courts, or Educational institutions at any level or to any degree.

Today, the Quebec Charter of Values is pushing “Secularism.” Tomorrow, Islam will again demand their rights. Do you see where we’re going?

Without the majority of Canadians waking up and shouting from the rooftops that we already have a moral compass, without returning to our moral compass, the stupidity will continue.
