Prime Minister Carney has again failed Canadians, and once again—with the help of taxpayer funded CBC—he’s working hard to enrage Canadians and to blame US President Donald J. Trump for his failures. Canada went into trade negotiations with the US and came up short. Now Mr. Carney wants credit for “standing up for Canadians” and for “walking away from a bad deal.”

His “elbows up” approach failed in 2025. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or a political scientist to understand that President Trump is not easily intimidated by globalist bureaucrats. In 2025, Mr. Carney’s approach apparently played well with misinformed Canadian voters. Pretentious patriotism seemed to motivate many voters to support the globalist banker because they thought—wrongly—that the newly-minted Liberal leader was going to strengthen Canadian sovereignty and restore our failing economy. How has that been working out?

By rejecting our longstanding partnership with the United States, Mr. Carney has further eroded the strength of the Canadian economy. He used his bought-and-paid-for national media to make a case for seeking new partnerships, even with the Chinese Communist dictator, Xi Jinping. Regarding trade with China, the chickens have not yet come to roost. But they will. One sticking point with the US trade negotiators was Canada’s newfound warmth and cooperation with the CCP. The trade deal Carney made—the one that promised China increased access to our vehicle market—definitely rankled President Trump. Other aspects of current Canadian political actions have deepened the rift. Our adherence to European-style social values, our tightening restrictions on free speech, our open border policies have shown that our political class has largely abandoned the principles upon which both we and the USA were once founded. Trade practices and expectations are just one aspect of the cultural divide we are now facing.

Many Canadians are harshly critical of the US President. Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS), has afflicted many in this country as well as in US political circles. Certainly, Trump’s bombastic style does not endear him to Canada’s elite progressive left. Spurred on and traumatized daily by our left-leaning media, folks who don’t bother to think for themselves or to dig deeper for facts and analysis find it all too easy to blame the man in the Oval Office rather than the man at 24 Sussex Drive.

One thing any honest citizen would have to acknowledge is that President Trump is an American and the MAGA slogan (Make America Great Again), which he created and promoted, is his genuine desire and intention. He’s not trying to make Canada great again. He probably may not realize what a great country Canada once was. But I’d take him any day—if I had the choice—over our feckless and reckless globalist control freak.

The citizens of the USA would never agree…but what if we were to trade leaders for a year? What if Canadians had a leader who—rather than shutting down trade negotiations—made successful trade negotiations with the US the most important strategic goal of his administration?

What if Canadians had a leader who was working hard to eliminate electoral corruption and ensure that foreign interference in elections was rooted out and who was pressing for better safeguards to ensure that only Canadian voters could cast a ballot?

What if Canadians had a leader who would consider withdrawing from the World Health Organization and other globalist institutions?

What if Canadians had a leader who would remind citizens of our founders’ accomplishments and the historic roots of our national greatness?

What if Canadians had a leader who would speak at the National March for Life and remind citizens of the infinite value of every human life?

What if Canadians had a leader who would speak out about the injustice of allowing men to compete in womens’ sports?

What if Canadians had a leader who would cut taxes instead of raising them?

What if Canadians had a leader who would challenge Big Pharma and the status quo regarding the childhood vaccination schedule?

What if Canadians had a leader who would praise our war heroes and honour their sacrifices?

Of course, we cannot—in any practical sense—swap leaders with the United States. But the fact that our current Prime Minister spent much of his adult career in another country and the fact that he has huge investments in Brookfield, which in turn, makes huge profits in the USA, should at least give us pause to think.

Two things which we should contemplate are these:

• All of our economic challenges would be significantly easier to face if it were not $1.4 trillion in debt...if we were not paying out $147.8 million in debt interest charges every single day! Donald Trump did not borrow that money. Mark Carney and Justin Trudeau did.
• Secondly, the “dollar-for-dollar” reciprocal tariffs that Mr. Carney has promised to impose on US goods will hurt Canadians more than they will hurt the US. We will now have the worst of both worlds: Canadian companies will lose market share and customers due to the US tariffs…and Canadian consumers and businesses will pay 50% more for certain goods from the US.

In the real world, we can’t just wish away bad leadership. We have to work and pray and sacrifice to elect better leaders and better MPs who will aspire and commit to making Canada great again. We need miracles and for those miracles to become reality, we need God. We in CHP Canada recognize that, and we call on all Canadians to not put their trust in failed and flawed human leadership but in Almighty God. Without Him, we can do nothing, but with God ALL things are possible!
