On the heels of “another Thanksgiving dinner that couldn’t be beat”, I’ve been thinking about how thankful we all should be that we live in a country blessed by God with so many rich natural resources, so many gifted human resources and so many opportunities for citizens to express themselves—through writing, art, music, entrepreneurship and business development, etc.

​A week ago something happened. It had been coming so slowly for so long that you might not have noticed it — seniors over age 65 now outnumber young people age 14 and under.

Democracy is a good deal better than dictatorship. At least our ancestors thought so and many died so that we could enjoy the privileges of citizenship in a democratic nation where most decisions are a group effort and national direction is guided in large part at the ballot box.

In terrifying news for all Canadians, we recently learned that an Edmonton judge has ordered a tried and convicted terrorist to be free to move about Canada.

Since becoming a Christian in 1976, I have understood that persecution of Christians would one day come to Canada.

The 1988 election was a referendum on free-trade and the 2004 election was a referendum on marriage; is this election a referendum too?

Imagine living in a place that is so dangerous and war-torn that you would take your family on an inflatable raft across a treacherous stretch of water at night so that your children could have a better life...

One requirement for becoming a candidate in a Canadian federal election is to obtain a minimum of 100 signatures of “qualified electors consenting to the nomination”.

When people refer to the “news networks,” they’re being generous. They are networks but the “news” is still whatever the editors, publishers, and producers want the voting public to think about.

For some of us, the writ dropped and… life went on as usual. For some of us, the writ dropped and we jumped into high gear on an election campaign. Our CHP members and supporters, fall somewhere between these two opposite ends of the electoral activity spectrum.

August 6th was the first debate between the party leaders. Well, four of them anyway. At least thirteen party leaders were not invited. The four main topics that were covered in this debate were: the economy, the environment and energy, the state of our democracy, and foreign policy and security.

Since the major national media forgot to call the leader of the Christian Heritage Party to ask my opinion about what will be one of the longest election campaigns in Canadian history, I am offering this public response to the unnecessarily premature launch of Election 2015.
