Is Truth “Non-negligible”?

It’s a non-negligible amount of work to read the news sometimes. There’s not only watching for media bias and looking for “the spin,” there’s also watching for misleading words that misdirect us as to various mis-implications in the article.
It’s just over three years since the story broke about 491 babies surviving abortion and left to die. It triggered this CHP article.
Did the practice of infanticide end in 2013? Obviously not! This article from LifesiteNews tells of the continued practice of killing the live babies born after botched abortions. “The authors complain that the death of abortion survivors has a “non-negligible” upward impact on Quebec’s infant mortality rate.”
The article to which they refer is “Abortion and Infant Mortality on the First Day of Life,” written by Nathalie Auger, Marianne Bilodeau-Bertrand, and Reg Sauve. The article also says that late term abortion carries a “non-negligible risk” of the baby being born alive. Perhaps, the numbers of aborted babies left to die is greater than is reported.
Canadians have evolved though in how they perceive these types of reports. Prior to 2013, Officials carefully placed their fingers in their ears to avoid hearing whistle blowers while many of the Canadian electorate stood united behind their elected officials…ears carefully plugged.
In 2013, when the story broke of the StatsCan report that 491 babies were born alive and left to die between 2000-2009, The Interim also reported “According to numbers from the Canadian Institute for Health Information, another 199 babies were left to die after surviving abortions in 2010 and 2011.” Three MPs sought RCMP involvement by writing a letter seeking an RCMP investigation.
Of course, with that valiant flare of activity, the media and pro-aborts promptly went into damage control. We can’t have a little matter of 698 murdered babies messing up something as important as sex without consequences.
It’s all about “the spin”… Equate it with abortions; hide the fact that, even under Canadian law, killing a live infant is murder; yell really loud about denied rights; and tap into people’s emotions. This is a winning formula to make infanticide acceptable…or any other immoral behaviour you want to normalize.
So what does this latest information to come out tell us about our Canadian worldview? We’re still careful about “the spin.” Rather than say that reporting babies born alive and left to die as having a “significant” effect on our infant mortality rates, those completing this study hid behind the “double negative” to disguise the truth.
Again, it’s a lot of work to read the news sometimes…Translation…“Non-negligible” = “Significant.” Our brain remembers that “negligible” was what the article said. We must discern a little more to catch, what was frowned upon by our English teachers, the “double negative” that manipulated our understanding of the results of this study.
Many of us remember the article in the Toronto Sun that exposed a webpage on Toronto District School Board (TDSB) website encouraging children to experiment sexually with vegetables. When questioned, what was the TDSB’s spin? They were providing “sexual health information.” The lazy, or trusting, person could read the TDSB statement and applaud the school for providing healthy sexual information. A deeper look at the information would lead one to wonder at the perversions being taught to children.
We have a heritage that values honesty. While our Canadian worldview may change, our Christian worldview does not change. I am so grateful that I have available to me a political party that does not “spin” the truth to hide the truth. Would you join a political party that required high and vigilant levels to discern what they represent?
CHP Canada defends life from conception to natural death. We say that plainly. We would require immigrants to sign a formally binding pledge of loyalty to Canada. The Christian Heritage Party of Canada would allow the federal government to enter into debt only in cases of national crisis. These are just a few of the unequivocal positions of CHP Canada.

If our generations won’t stand up for truth today, truth will be an increasingly rare commodity in our public life tomorrow. If we won’t discern and confront “the spin,” then we will not recognize the truth.
