How time flies when you’re having fun! 2025 went by in a blur, and 2026 is knocking on the door! Shall we let it in? I guess we have no choice…. What can we expect as we turn the page and start using our new calendars?

As winter’s snows begin to accumulate (at least in most parts of Canada), our thoughts turn toward Christmas and traditional family gatherings, times of celebration, worship and reflection. As we remind ourselves and our fellow-citizens every year, these Christmas celebrations are not meaningless events thrown together out of boredom or philosophical speculations. Joining our hearts together in worship and remembrance of the birth of Jesus is a significant and meaningful part of our life and family experience—both as Christians and as Canadians.

Bill C-9 is being touted as an ‘Anti-Hate Bill’, but is that really the goal? Bill C-9 proposes new Criminal Code offences, including one that would make it a crime to intentionally promote hatred in public against identifiable groups, using certain hate-or terrorism-related symbols.

Much has been made of the recent announcement of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Prime Minister, Mark Carney and Alberta Premier, Danielle Smith, purporting to be the first step toward developing a new pipeline that will carry Alberta bitumen to foreign markets. The announcement came as something of a surprise, since oil pipelines have not been one of Mark Carney’s favourite topics. But let’s take a look at this MOU.

Have you walked outside Canadian towns or cities this summer? Everywhere you go, farmland is being sacrificed to make way for cities. Our government has massively over-immigrated and failed to ensure that housing was available for the more than three million immigrants brought into Canada in the past 10 years. A serious lack of foresight!

Recently, our completely distracted and effectively disengaged federal government passed the first reading of what it calls a “vital” new bill, C-254. What is this “vital” new law in the works going to do to promote reconciliation between Canadians living today?

This coming February 3, CHP Canada will be back in court, defending the right of Canadians to post their views about live public policy, on public property, in a peaceful manner.

Just when you thought people went into politics because of deeply-held beliefs about economics, social policies, etc. . . . poof! That illusion comes crashing down as two—not one but two—Conservative MPs leave the ranks and put Mark Carney’s Liberals within spitting distance of a majority. The timing couldn’t be worse for Canada.

Canada, under Prime Minister Mark Carney, is still going in the same general direction as it was under Justin Trudeau . . . but a whole lot faster! The Carney brownshirts that misguided voters have allowed to control Parliament are not playing around. They are moving to create as many restrictions as possible on what remains of our Parliamentary democracy.

A budget was meant to inform voters and taxpayers and guide government departments and help them to manage financial resources responsibly. Those days seem to be gone. Here we are, in October 2025, with no real budget for this year but more or less predictions being leaked of spending priorities for 2026 . . .

It seems like we should be looking at our rights in Canada, should our lives be threatened. What do you do if an intruder comes into your home? This is really sticky because you have to be thinking clearly to make the correct decision. The Criminal Code of Canada tells us . . .

Last week, we witnessed a shameful display of bullying and political cowardice in Victoria. Bullying by the majority NDP MLAs and their same-thinking comrades and cowardice on the part of the BC Conservatives, who abandoned their posts, rather than debate the motion put forward by MLA Rohini Arora.
