Immigration and Freedom!

Imagine Canada behind an 'iron curtain'. The horror of the Soviet Union's war on its own citizens is still fresh in many of our minds. We may have joked about "Siberia" but to Russians it was not a laughing matter. "Obey the government," "Don't make waves," and "Avoid all but the 'state religion' of atheism", were just some of the many rules that citizens had to obey—or perish

Freedom loving Canadians have repeatedly warned our government of the danger of trying to adopt many alien, and often contradictory, 'world views' while still hoping to maintain the freedoms rooted in our Christian heritage. The warnings fell on deaf ears.

The Quebec government trying to deal now with the face covering of Muslim women is like trying to make up rules after the game has started. This is a federal 'world view' issue that should have been addressed years ago-not a provincial issue! Leadership should be coming from the Harper government which is all too quiet.

The position of CHP Canada is very clear. The very essence of citizenship implies an oath of loyalty and unity of all people who desire to become citizens of Canada. Immigrants, although proud of their own cultural heritage, have a duty to pledge allegiance to the land which they have chosen to call home.

A clear understanding must exist and be communicated that new citizens are accepted on our terms and not theirs. Patriotism and loyalty to Canada, and our democratic values and morals, demand that previously held traditions and legal systems alien to Canada must be considered a thing of the past.

There are other Christian based democracies which failed to adequately protect their country through their immigration laws. Now, they have to deal with strident cultural groups who insist that the host country accept the tenets of the country the immigrants have left behind. The most recent example is aspects of Sharia law being adopted in England.

Should the British lose their freedoms behind an 'iron curtain' to placate immigrants who refuse to accept the tradition of freedoms inherent in the British Christian heritage? Should we?

These types of demands are a violation of the oath of loyalty and are far in excess of our common understanding of multiculturalism which respects and appreciates the diversity of people of different ethnic backgrounds while not diminishing respect for Canada's Christian heritage. Whatever our country of origin, we must build a primary sense of being "Canadian" and reject all attempts that are contrary to this vision.

Immigrants and refugees must abide by Canadian laws and agree to forego or abandon practices and traditions that are contrary to ours such as:

  1. Sharia Law—e.g. honour killings.
  2. Bondage—e.g. enforced wearing of burqa or face covering when applying for or receiving public services.
  3. Gang violence—e.g. Mexican drug wars.
  4. Religious beliefs that run contrary to the Charter in that they demean individuals, jeopardize people's safety, etc.
  5. Terrorism—e.g. promoting and supporting subversive terrorist groups (like al-Qaeda and its many offshoots, or the Tamil Tigers) in their country of origin and/or worldwide.

All such practices that constitute a violation of the signed pledge and must be considered serious enough to warrant deportation back to the country of origin.

This is not to say, however, that refugees and immigrants cannot use peaceful efforts, if they are not in contravention of Canadian law to draw attention to the plight of their old countrymen in order to bring about change.

CHP Canada will ensure that immigrants and refugees who are admitted will be expected to adopt Canada's cultural norms and educate their children to be proud of their country and make a contribution to its betterment. The CHP will ensure that entry into Canada is only granted to those wishing to truly integrate into Canadian society.
