Father’s Day: A Tribute to Canada’s Founding Fathers

It took God and men who had a living faith in God to lay Canada's solid foundation. From prior to Confederation to our present day, there are many in Canada's history who had such faith in God that caused them to ensure that a proper foundation was laid.
Pre-Confederation missionaries endured many hardships and were the helmsmen, setting the course our nation would take. Jean de Brebeuf, writer of the "Huron Carol," was considered a hero and martyr by the Huron Indians. Henry Steinhauer, in the Hudson Bay Territories, became a great minister to his own native people, and many more followed to lay the ground work.
At Confederation, the 'Dominion of Canada' was birthed. During morning devotions, Sir Samuel Leonard Tilley—one of the Fathers of Confederation—read Psalm 72:8, which states "He shall have Dominion also from sea to sea." He recommended the name "Dominion of Canada," which was adopted by the Westminster Convention. Sir John A. Macdonald signed a letter to Queen Victoria that said the name was "a tribute to the principles they earnestly desired to uphold."
Yes, Canada has drifted from these foundations, but the final chapter of our history has not yet been written. Foreseeing and acknowledging the speed of departure from our Christian heritage, the founders of the Christian Heritage Party of Canada built the CHP on foundations that could not move.
The hope that many once had in our Christian Parliamentarians who serve in other parties has grown dim—as those members are held back by party leaders and whips. But, hope and freedom are truly alive in the party the CHP founders had the wisdom to establish.
Let this Father's Day be a tribute to the planning committees who met in basements and conceived a truly "Christian" party, and to the courage and conviction of the many committed members who have persisted in protecting the vision of CHP Canada.
We look forward to a day when all Canadians will be thankful for the pioneers of CHP Canada that gave us a vehicle to protect the founding Fathers' orientation and intent for Canada.
Ruler Supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our Dominion in Thy loving care!
