Canada Needs a Moral Revolution!

When asked only a month ago “If you get a majority government . . . Will you reopen the abortion issue?” Prime Minister Harper responded with “No no . . . I’m not interested in having a debate over abortion.” He went on to piously explain that pro-lifers must “change the hearts of Canadians and not laws in order to diminish the number of abortions”. So I ask you: what is the role of Parliament if not to make laws to protect the innocent? And what is the Prime Minister doing to change hearts? When is the last time he spoke at the March for Life? Can political leaders in Ottawa be any clearer? In their attempt to restore Canada to being a prolife nation, the main strategy of most Christian activists has been to try to elect more and more prolife Members to Parliament. Of course, in so doing, this strategy also divided prolife MPs into different political parties, so the MPs established an all-party (secretive at times) pro-life caucus. But the individual members of this caucus know that outside their meetings their hands are tied and their mouths are gagged because of their party affiliation. However well intentioned, this strategy has not only failed but it continues to have the cumulative effect of deactivating most high potential prolife politicians from doing anything substantial for the prolife cause. Imagine now a pro-life caucus that could sit ‘united’ in the House of Commons and be unhindered in any way from challenging our Prime Minister, and all parliamentarians, about the horror of abortion and the many other moral issues important to Canadians.  The Question Period in the House of Commons on the national news would certainly have a different and very welcome flavour. Is this possible in the near future? Absolutely! In 1991, when Quebec separatist MPs felt abandoned and frustrated after the Meech Lake Accord failed, they showed Canadians how important this issue was to them by walking away from both the Conservative and Liberal parties and forming the Bloc Quebecois. Even if we don’t agree with them (and I don’t), those MPs demonstrated a willingness to put their careers on the line for their cause. I wonder how important the life of an unborn child is to our prolife parliamentarians. Do they see it as murder or not? If they don’t – they are simply not prolife.  If they do – then they must act! Is mass murder not as important as the sovereignty issue of Quebec? It is considerably more important. So, what should be the response of truly prolife MPs? They could leave the Conservatives, Liberals and NDP and sit ‘united’ in the House of Commons and they could do it under the banner of an established party – CHP Canada. This move would revolutionize our nation overnight and mobilize the Christian vote across Canada to stand behind the courageous MPs. Support for CHP Canada would skyrocket, putting the fear of God, (or at least the fear of lost votes), directly into the House of Commons and into the minds of every secular MP. As well-known sceptic and author Mark Twain once said: If Christians would vote their duty to God at the polls, they would carry every election, and do it with ease. . . .Their prodigious power would be quickly realized and recognized, and afterward there would be no unclean candidates upon any ticket, and graft would cease. . . .If the Christians of America could be persuaded to vote God and a clean ticket, it would bring about a moral revolution that would be incalculably beneficent. It would save the country. (Colliers Magazine, September 2, 1905) Yes! CHP Canada holds the potential of bringing about a moral revolution in Canada and it only requires that Christians across this land demonstrate their willingness to act with at least the same amount of vigour as did the Bloc MPs...yet for a cause that is of vastly greater importance. We in the Christian Heritage Party of Canada have heard every feeble excuse under the sun! “Change your name;” “change your statement;” “I can’t sign this;” and “I don’t believe in that.” It’s the same excuses that have divided churches for hundreds of years, and continues to divide them… The Christian Heritage Party of Canada is not a church; it’s a POLITICAL PARTY. Christians (both Roman Catholic and Protestant) must realize this fact. When Christians decide to make morality a requirement for government, then Canada will again be a life-affirming and child-loving nation and a model for the rest of the world to follow. Talk to your Prolife MP today and suggest that (s)he bring his/her passion for life to the only Party that can give momentum to his/her passion…and it is that that would guarantee your vote in the upcoming election. If you haven’t yet joined CHP Canada, I encourage you to join now and contribute today at http://www.chp.ca. As the only pro-life political party in Canada, we are the only party that truly represents YOU. But we need your help to make a difference! How important are Canada’s children to you? Will you stand on principle to defend their right to life?
