Why Join CHP Canada?

Years ago, when the CHP began, many people recognized the need for salt and light in the political realm. Our heritage, which recognized all people as valuable, had come under assault, and many in the church roused to step into what was seen by many as the ‘dirty’ realm of politics.

They were not the first Christians to become politically active over the centuries. The monarchy in England was placed under the Laws of God in the signing of the Magna Carta (equality of all people under God). Queen Elizabeth recently celebrated her 90th birthday and is the longest reigning monarch yet she and Prince Philip have been a testament to marital fidelity and faithful governing under the law.

The Netherlands was one of several countries that sought to maintain their Christian values through the election of a party based on the Christian worldview. Abraham Kuyper, a Dutch theologian and statesman, was president of their country 1901-1905.

In the western world, we saw slavery abolished by a lifetime of unrelenting pressure by William Wilberforce, a politician who became a Christian while in office and whose faith also led him to push for child labour laws and laws prohibiting cruelty to animals. And few know that James Simcoe abolished slavery in Upper Canada in 1791—ninety years before Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

These are samples of Christians who sought—through political means—to make the world a better place… and succeeded.

So, I ask the question, “Why join CHP Canada?”

We live in a time where our great country borders on chaos.

The most dangerous place for a baby is in its mother’s womb while the government refuses to provide women with the truth of abortion’s link to breast cancer, depression, self-harm, infertility, and other dangers.

Children are being sexualized by government schools while parents’ rights to protect their children from this indoctrination are discounted by the same government authorities.

Seniors, those with mental health issues, and handicapped people are facing the medical profession’s new state-imposed mandate—one that seeks not to save lives in every case but to offer, at the most difficult time of your life, when you’re at your weakest moment, to “put you out of your misery.”

An immoral government, while recognizing the dangers of addictions…alcohol, drugs and gambling… places the temptation to succumb to the allure of addictions before Canadians, polished up nice and pretty to make these vices look attractive.

Our government brings to our shores an increasing number of people who do not recognize the equalities that are part of our Canadian worldview… i.e. the equality of women… and demands that we cheerfully close our eyes to the reality that, when the number of those holding foreign, male-supremacist views reaches a critical level, we will face a cultural reversal to a time when women were mere chattel.

In short, “Nero is fiddling while Rome burns!”

“So, what can I do?” you may wonder. “I’m a busy person. I’m raising my family. I volunteer at church. Politicians are among the worst deceivers; why should I willingly associate with them?”

We are here to be light and salt to this generation. We look at the short list above of where we are as a nation and it’s already overwhelming. What’s the point of taking on this seemingly impossible task of restoring and maintaining our Judaeo-Christian culture and law?

Thankfully, we have a God who is not deterred by the impossible. He has placed us here, at this time, knowing that we face these problems. He didn’t place us here to “hide our light under a bushel.” He placed us here to light up the darkness.

Some people worry that, by shining a light into politics, we risk allowing souls to perish. But, surely, if our politicians are as degenerate as Canadians think they are, we should be seeking to show these leaders how to serve Canadians in the light of the freedoms and equalities of our Christian heritage!

Surely, we should be showing Canadians what has been achieved under our Christian heritage and what still can be achieved. We can push the darkness back now, while there is still some welcome for our message of freedom, equality, right to life, responsible stewardship, and self responsibility, to name a few benefits, or we can say the job is too big and leave it to our children and grandchildren to fight.

Will future generations thank us for taking on this monumental task in a world that has forgotten that there was a better way? How will we be remembered if we fail to engage in this, the battle for the culture, and instead simply allow evil to multiply?

Canadian soldiers helped fight back the darkness in WW1 and WW2. Canadian wives served as single parents, while keeping our economy moving with their men “overseas.” Our soldiers have since served as beacons of hope around the world. They set the standard for us and many of them paid the ultimate price. Will we follow their example in the culture wars or will we abandon the battlefield before our fight is over?

On May 12th, hopefully over 25,000 people will attend the March for Life in Ottawa, Victoria, and other cities across Canada. Our leader, Rod Taylor, will address those assembled on Parliament Hill, along with pro-life Members of Parliament. Will you be there? Will you help carry the Christian Heritage Party banner, or pass out CHP Canada bookmarks?

It really is time to join CHP Canada. It’s time to get up and fight back the darkness that threatens to consume our country. Join CHP Canada to make a cohesive effort to change the Canadian political realm. One person can achieve something, but many hands working together can achieve so much more!
