They Don’t Have a Clue!

The inability and incompetence of school boards and/or municipal and provincial legislative bodies, when they are faced with having to make a judgment about something as simple as the public availability of Bibles, amazes me. They don’t have a clue about the importance of defending our nation’s founding principles which are embedded between the pages of that very book.
A Gideon colleague of mine very recently visited my office in Nova Scotia and during our discussions he expressed his disappointment in how the complaint of just one person had the distribution of Bibles in a local Nova Scotia school forbidden. It wasn’t a coincidence that the very next day I read this article in LifeSiteNews. Here is just one extract from the article, which contains numerous examples of the same things happening in Ontario:
In April the Bluewater District board, which has over 18,000 students in 53 schools in Ontario’s Bruce and Grey counties, crumbled under the pressure of one complaint from a parent who said the distribution of free bibles “undermines the secular nature” of public schools. An 8-3 vote ended a decades-old tradition for those families who wished their children to receive a Gideon Bible.
What the district school board should have explained to that one parent was the reason why Canada tolerates secularism! Canada’s Judeo-Christian heritage guarantees everyone’s freedom of religion, including one’s right to be a secularist. And furthermore, if our youth are not exposed to the foundational document which was instrumental in the formation of our guaranteed Chartered rights, how can they, as our future leaders, possibly be equipped to protect everyone’s rights including those of the secularist? Obviously eight out of the eleven board members at the Bluewater District board didn’t have a clue and should be replaced by men and women who do. The province would also do well to adopt a policy that every educator, judge, and politician study and be helped to understand an article similar to this one written by Dave Miller, Ph.D., titled “How Important is the Bible to America’s Survival?” Here is a very small extract from that document:[T]he Founders [U.S.A.] viewed the Bible as absolutely indispensable and integral to the survival of the Republic. It is no wonder that, after a decade-long study in an effort to identify where the Founders acquired their ideas for the formation of the nation and the writing of its constitutions of government, political scientists conducting the study concluded that the Founders cited the Bible in their political utterances far more often than any other source.
Our judicial, educational, and parliamentary systems are in disarray today because they’ve lost touch with the very source of their wisdom; unless the people making these decisions are replaced, and soon, they’ll have our nation mired in a cesspool of confusion, bitterness, and injustice. God only can help us deal with the results of their poor decisions—decisions that ignore history and biblical principles. Take time to read “The Forgotten Clauses of the Magna Carta” to see how historical revisionists are re-writing history and effectively “whiting-out” the Christian references of the Magna Carter which we know gave birth to English common law and our Canadian heritage. The audacity of such manipulation brings to life George Orwell’s writings in his classic 1984: “Who controls the past,…controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.” The powers that be don’t only want to restrict our children’s access to a Gideon Bible but they are going so far as to rewrite the history books to remove any references that show the importance of our Judeo-Christian foundations. If we—all of us—don’t start speaking out soon, we’ll not have the right to speak at all. The Christian Heritage Party provides a means to have your voice heard and is a vehicle whereby we can replace those who have been distorting history and destroying our culture.
