As the New Year commences, I want to wish every one of you a prosperous, victorious and exciting year of growth, opportunity and fulfillment!

By the time you read this, 2024 will be underway and the list of projects you didn’t complete in 2023 will be the beginning of a new list for the 366 days of the coming year. Yes, 2024 is a Leap Year, so you get one extra day to work on those projects.

Depending on where you live in Canada and what your interests are, those projects may involve painting a bedroom, building a fence, improving the yard or—in my case—the never-ending challenge of organizing my office and sorting files. For those involved in political campaigns (either as candidates or campaign volunteers), 2024 may also be a year of campaigning. People are trying to read the tea leaves about the PM’s intentions and / or whether NDP leader Jagmeet Singh will continue to prop up the Liberal government or will cut loose and let the government fall . . . which would trigger an early election.

Since we can’t know for sure, we need to be ready for a possible federal election in the Spring or Fall. The CHP Election Readiness Team has already been at work, preparing campaign tools and training materials for our candidates. Now is the time for anyone considering becoming a CHP candidate to contact our national office and let us know. There is some paperwork to fill out; the sooner we hear from you, the better able we will be to answer your questions and help you prepare.

Even if there is no federal election in 2024, there will definitely be a provincial election in British Columbia and the Christian Heritage Party of B.C. is now preparing for that. The official election date is October 19, 2024 but rumours are that the NDP government will call it in the Spring. Again—if you live in BC—we are looking for candidates to represent Life! Family! and Freedom! in BC’s next general election. Please contact me if you would like to have your name on the ballot.

2024 is also a convention year for CHP Canada. Lots of work has already been done by the Convention Committee and the Policy and Strategy Committee. If you have policy or constitutional resolutions you think should be on the agenda for the August 12-15 CHP Convention in Ancaster, Ontario, please contact George at our National Office and he can direct you. If you’re part of an active Electoral District Association or a CHP Provincial Council, you can ask them to sponsor your resolution. If not, there are procedures whereby you can still get your resolution on the floor.

In terms of personal challenges, every one of us has felt the pinch of inflation; ongoing government policies—like the carbon tax and massive immigration—are pushing us farther and faster than any of us expected. The consolidation of power in the media, the bureaucracy, the banks and the education system has not only indoctrinated several generations but now is at work to censor alternate points of view—a very dangerous development indeed.

There’s no simple remedy for the loss of freedom. It will take a strong resolve on our part to continue to speak the truth, even if it seems unpopular and not to be carried away with mainstream narratives. We must cling to the truth and reject the lies . . . even if it costs us the loss of money, friendships or public approval. One day, the generation being born today will thank you for defending the truth and the freedoms past generations fought and died for. A hearty thanks to all of you for standing with us!

May you see the hand of God at work in your families, your communities and our country in 2024! God bless you!
