And Now We’ll Know… The Rest of the Story!

Many of us certainly remember the popular radio program originally hosted by Paul Harvey, The Rest of the Story. The broadcasts always concluded with the tag line “And now you know…the rest of the story.” Now, imagine a Canadian news network that told the “whole story”—yes, the rest of the story! It would have to be one that had the courage and audacity to report without left-wing secular propaganda weighing it down. I’m thinking something along the lines of the U.S. Fox News network. Unfortunately, Canadians have been stuck with the brainwashed, left-of-centre “CBC-TV/Global” bias for decades; and for me, it has really become as boring and predictable as watching amateur backgammon on prime-time television. If I didn’t have to watch it as part of my job, I’d turn it off! Two weeks ago, when I accidentally switched to what appeared to be a new Canadian TV news network, it struck me as different (you see, I’m a bit of a “news-junkie”); this one certainly had a fresh flavour. I first noticed that it didn’t see eye-to-eye with everything David Suzuki has said, and I thought, “Wow! Will educators dare to share this with our youth, after having made him the environmental god in our public schools? Hmm… I’m amused… Let’s watch on…” Well, then Greenpeace got a thrashing—yippee! Finally some people with guts enough to tell it like it is. Next on the chopping block were “day-care” centres, heroin injection sites, Human Rights Commissions, and a sample of our tax-funded CBC’s biased reporting… I mean—this couldn’t get much better—bring on the popcorn! Over the past two weeks I’ve continued to tune in and keep an eye on what turns out to be Canada’s newest news network: Sun News. And I haven’t been disappointed. Do I see eye-to-eye with them on everything they report? No—but isn’t that what we should expect in balanced reporting? Will I ever watch CBC-TV/Global news again? Sure—for one thing, I’ll be interested in their rebuttals. I’d like our members to know that a new source for “news” has appeared on the scene with more balance, and even a bit of a centre-right lean. Sun News is definitely worth taking a look at. The Christian Heritage Party does not endorse one media over another; but we certainly want you to be informed about the issues from a new perspective. You can find it on Star Choice/Shaw Direct ch. 517, and from many other cable companies (check your local listings for Sun News Network). As it turns out, Bell Expressvu and Telus TV have not yet agreed to carry the new network…what’s going on there? It’s only a matter of time before their viewers will demand to know “the rest of the story.”
