Alan Keyes for President in 2008?
September 08, 2008 | Author: Ron Gray |
In January, Newsmax magazine reported that billionaire publisher Steve Forbes and CNN's Lou Dobbs both predicted that the winner of the 2008 presidential election in the United States would be an independent!
Their reasoning comes closer and closer to possibility, as Internet news mogul Joseph Farah is heading up a None Of The Above campaign in the USA. With a book by that title coming out next month, Farah says neither Obama nor McCain satisfies his prime requirement for a president: someone whose policies and speeches indicate respect for the Constitution.
Just as in Canada, the two big parties in the U.S. chase after the same polls, resulting in nearly-identical policies: economic promises (which they may or may not be able to fulfill-it doesn't matter: the policy of all the big parties is "Promise Now, Repent Later") supersede any pretense of moral criteria.
That's what happened in the two previous American presidential elections: the two big parties, following the same polling data and competing for the same "radical middle", wound up only a few percentage points apart.
Still maintaining his website as an independent candidate (after being shut out of the Republican nominations by the back-room boys for the fifth consecutive time), the brilliant former cultural ambassador to the UN (in the Reagan administration)-pro-life and pro-family advocate Alan Keyes- looks like the best bet to capture the pro-moral vote as a write-in candidate.
You can learn about Dr. Keyes at his campaign website, www.alankeyes.com. You really owe it to yourself to experience a breath of political fresh air by visiting his website. The opening splash includes this quotation: "Do our duty, and I believe we can leave the rest most confidently in God's Almighty Hand. And in so doing, we will find ourselves walking along the same path of hope to that future which America promises-not only to our children, but to the children of all mankind; not only to our country, but, as Lincoln said, to all the earth."
After you visit his website, go to www.chp.ca; I think you'll agree that the Christian Heritage Party offers Canadians the same time-tested principles and the same hope for the future that Dr. Keyes offers our American cousins.
