A Threat is a Call to Serve!

In response to Saturday's Arizona shooting of U.S. congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Ottawa's Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon stated, "Regardless of where they occur, attacks against democratically elected officials affect and undermine the safety of us all." At 10:10 AM, at a meet-and-greet outside a Safeway store, a mad gunman went on a shooting rampage targeting Giffords. His slaughter ended with the shooting of nineteen people, killing six and critically wounding the congresswoman. Among the dead were Judge John McCarthy Roll and a nine-year-old girl. U.S. Chief Justice Roberts said the killing of Judge Roll "is a sombre reminder of the importance of the rule of law and the sacrifices of those who work to secure it." As we know, political issues can often be very controversial and political candidates can expect to be the sounding boards for all positions. It goes with the territory. What we have to remember is that acts from psychotics or Islamic extremists against elected officials must not discourage candidates from seeking political office. Rather, the threat should be seen as a call to serve! Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister stated that an attack of this nature undermines the safety of us all, yet the U.S. Justice correctly identified the responsibility of every leader to uphold--through personal sacrifice--public safety and the rule of law. As I watched the news coverage of this U.S. tragedy unfold, it reminded me of the important principles the Christian Heritage Party defends, and the very important role that each of our candidates fulfills. CHP Canada, more than any other party, has always been and continues to be in the forefront, speaking clearly and boldly, stating our opposition to issues that the major parties choose not to confront. Often our CHP candidate will take a lot more flak during campaigns as a result. Examples of just a few of the issues we are willing to confront are the growing Islamic ideological threat to Canada, the massive growth of our national debt, the assault on traditional marriage, the bogus 'climate change' theory, and the sanctity of life in the womb. At a summer BBQ, one elected MP was reported as stating that he appreciated running against a CHP candidate because it often took the pressure off him. Canada was founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law. You and I both know there are definitely factions within our nation today that are attempting to undermine both God's supremacy and our rule of law. In these troubling times who will answer the call to serve? Will you? In the last federal election fifty-nine CHP candidates made that personal sacrifice and ran for public office. In all of Canada, fifty-nine candidates willing to stand up for Christ and His sovereign law! Don't let Canada's safety be undermined. As we draw near another federal election, we need a team and a candidate in all three hundred and eight electoral districts in Canada. Call today to serve in some capacity today! I know of no other political party that promises any kind of hope for this nation! Only CHP Canada! It's time to defend and take back our nation.
