The Harper "conservatives"—what a misnomer!—have approved record funding for the Trudeau-era pro-abortion, anti-family lobby group Status of Women; that news should provide a wake-up call for pro-life, pro-family and pro-morality groups that have kept hoping against hope that this government might take the nation in a different direction than the Liberals.

Clearly, it won't.

Josée Verner, Tory Minister of Canadian Heritage and the Status of Women, told a Parliamentary committee that the Harper government has made a "firm commitment" to Status of Women Canada. She said the total budget for the organization is now $29.9 million a year—"a record for Status of Women Canada." Under the government's new "Women's Partnership Fund," the federal government provided $10 million to the agency in 2007, and that level of funding will continue (in spite of earlier reports of cuts) Verner said.

The idea of taxpayers being forced to fund groups to lobby the government is offensive; but when the victims of that lobbying are pre-born babies and children whose education will be corrupted by radical feminist philosophy, the lobbying is even worse.

The takeover of the Reform-Alliance movement by the Mulroney-era "Red Tories" is now complete.

Additional evidence of that takeover came with the news that a secret memo from the top ordered Tory MPs to remain silent or noncommittal on the suppression of free speech by the federal Human Rights Commission.

Perhaps the Tories' anti-life, anti-family policies will finally remove the scales from the eyes of pro-life and pro-family organization that have been putting their hope in the Harper Tories.

Only one federal political party—the CHP—stands firm on its commitment to defend the sanctity of innocent human life and the family, and to protect democracy and the Constitution against judicial activism.
