The Middle East… A Hotbed
August 12, 2014 | Author: Gunn | Volume 21 Issue 33
Nightly, the news is full of “wars and rumours of wars” in the Middle East. How many rockets were launched from Palestine to Israel? How many targeted attacks were made by Israel? How many civilians were killed in the overcrowded, Hamas infested, neighbourhoods by Israel? Were there casualties in Israel?
The war has spilled over to Canada with Calgary’s police displaying a seeming bias through their inaction when Hamas supporters assaulted supporters of Israel on the steps of City Hall. There was no police action, or even presence, even though Hamas is a terrorist organization.
We are all familiar with the terms “one-state solution” and “two-state solution”. We’ve heard Israel castigated for failing to support a two-state solution. We don’t hear so much about the Hamas solution of driving the Jews out of Israel…. I’m not sure if that is classed as a one-state solution or the first step to either a one-state or two-state solution.
What we don’t hear on the news is that Israel is also based on a Judaeo-Christian world view, which means freedom and equality for all. That is evident in the freedom and equalities experienced by the Palestinians living in Israeli. They do not attempt to move from Israel to the Gaza Strip. They enjoy their lives as equal members of a productive society.
As we persevere through the news report we hear about ISIS forcing people to flee… 20,000 more people fled to a barren mountaintop. They have a choice, stay up there and starve or come down and be killed….. slow death vs fast death. Hmmmm! Tough decision. ISIS terrorists are conducting the most brutal and inhumane war against Christians and other minorities, beheading children, raping women and hanging men. All in the name of Allah! Is this world view equal to our Judaeo-Christian world view?
Syrian refugees in Lebanon are forced to flee back to Syria by invading armies. Etc. etc.
Here in Canada we are blessed with freedom to come and go, freedom to believe or not to believe, freedom to speak or not to speak. We have freedoms. These freedoms are based on a standard set by our Judaeo-Christian world view.
Hmmmm! But what about the situation in Calgary…. A harbinger of things to come?
Canadians, trained by leftist media, have forgotten about our proud heritage. We are so anxious to tolerate every world view that we have allowed our freedom to protest to degenerate into "protest… if you dare!”
It’s time to re-engage logical thinking. If one world view says all people are equal and another says only the elite are equal, we must make a choice. If one world view says we are free to believe or not and another says, “You must believe what I believe!”, we must make a choice. If one world view says all life is valuable and another world view says only those I say are valuable have value, we must make a choice.
There is only one political party in Canada that truly stands up for our heritage of freedom and equality. That’s the Christian Heritage Party. We can look at the news to see how other world views are played out.
It is not enough to agree with our viewpoint. If you are not actively working to preserve the world view we share, your lack of involvement is hindering the efforts of those who are.
