Ready, Set, Go!

The writ has dropped for four federal by-elections; Voting Day has been set for June 30, 2014 for voters in Trinity-Spadina (ON), Scarborough-Agincourt (ON), Macleod (AB) and Fort McMurray-Athabasca (AB).

CHP intends to contest at least two of these seats; after all, seeking election to public office, in order to provide “true Christian leadership to this nation,” is one of the core reasons for CHP Canada’s existence! We are a political party and—in a campaign period—we anticipate that all of our members and supporters will be ready to chip in and get the job done. Some Canadians, who live in these four electoral districts, may never have heard of us before, but some of them might be ready to join, if only they saw a CHP presence in their area. Let’s step up to the challenge and take this opportunity!

Every campaign has costs. Printing and distributing brochures, producing radio, web and newspaper ads and going door-to-door in the communities all take money. National office will also be incurring expenses. Our leader is prepared to travel to support the candidates in their districts. We are anticipating that volunteer teams will also be mobilized.

We have an experienced candidate ready to run in Macleod, AB, from the neighbouring Lethbridge electoral district. Geoff Capp has served numerous times as candidate and has consistently earned some of our best results at the polls. Thank you, Geoff.

You can assist with Geoff’s campaign through assistance with phone calls, door-to-door canvassing, or through making a financial contribution through his Official Agent. We will provide further information in the very near future.

We are also excited to welcome first-time CHP candidate Linda Gibbons. Linda will serve as our candidate in the Ontario electoral district of Trinity-Spadina. Linda is well known in pro-life circles. She has served over 10 years in prison for her refusal to be silenced by the “temporary” injunction mandating a “bubble zone” around the Morgentaler abortuary. We are so pleased that Linda would give of her time to serve as a CHP candidate! Thank you, Linda.

Linda will require much assistance in gathering nomination signatures in this very challenging part of Toronto. You can also help Linda with phone calls and canvassing. You can help Linda financially by sending your cheque payable to her Official Agent. We will provide further information in the very near future.

We are still seeking a candidate for Fort McMurray-Athabasca, AB. If you know someone who would serve well as a candidate for CHP, please contact nationaloffice@chp.ca.

The CHP has been informed that Trevor Ellis, the Conservative candidate for the Toronto riding of Scarborough-Agincourt is a “solid pro-lifer”. Of course, there is nothing on his standard-issue Conservative candidate webpage to indicate this but Campaign Life Coalition has endorsed him; we value their opinion. We do not intend to contest Scarborough-Agincourt at this time but to concentrate our resources on the other ridings to give voters a pro-life alternative.

The Christian Heritage Party wants to send a powerful message to voters in Canada. We have at least two worthy candidates who will answer questions from the media and boldly go to all-candidates meetings to proclaim CHP policies and principles. We must not leave our candidates to fend for themselves! All of our members should consider what they can give to one or more campaigns. For our members living close-to or inside any of these areas, this call to action should be loudest – we need your help on the ground!

Can you collect signatures on nomination forms? Are you able to organize volunteers? Are you willing to make phone calls, using a script, to identify likely CHP supporters? Can you contribute to a social media campaign? Can you put up election signs? Are you willing to organize prayer support? Can you help financially? All of these and more are part of an effective campaign. Are you willing to participate?

With your help, we will be able to take this opportunity to advance the message of the CHP in these important by-elections.

Call To Action

We know you’ll want to help in some way! If you would like to:

  • Donate to one or more of these campaigns
  • Be part of the phone campaign; volunteer to make 50, 100, 200 or more calls into the voting district on behalf of our candidate there. We’ll provide you with a script.
  • Volunteer to serve on a campaign team. If you do not live close to the area, you can still participate by posting to Facebook campaign pages and forwarding links
  • Be part of a prayer team to support these candidates throughout their campaigns

Just send an email to: electionreadiness@chp.ca

In the subject line, write: Donate, Phone, Volunteer or Pray

We will send you info for each campaign as soon as it is available.
