Conservative Party - Respecting Traditional Family Values?

On Aug 27, Life Site News reported:

The ruling Conservative Party of Canada is asking its core supporters if it stands with them in “respecting traditional family values," leading some commentators to suggest they are reaching out to their social conservative base in preparation for the 2015 federal election.

The question must be posed, what are “traditional family values” to the Conservative Party? Are they the same as “traditional family values” in the Christian Heritage Party? The Canadian Press asked for clarification of the term from the Conservative Party but…well, maybe it will come in the future. It isn’t a term used by the Conservative Party or their policies.

CHP Canada policies state:

2. THE FAMILY

We affirm that the family is a God-ordained institution and the fundamental, indispensable basis of human society; that it consists of a man and woman lawfully wedded in a secure family home where natural or adopted children can be lovingly nurtured to maturity. We affirm that heterosexual, monogamous marriage is God-ordained as the foundation of the family, and that any other form of union whatsoever is Biblically prohibited. We believe that widespread violation of these prohibitions inevitably leads towards moral collapse and social disintegration.

Well! That’s pretty clear; the history of the family, the makeup of the family, the responsibilities of the family, the limits of the family. It is also what has traditionally been understood to be the family.

Let’s compare this to…penalizing the family by not allowing income splitting. We can also compare it to Mr. Harper’s refusal to allow the issues of life to be discussed in Parliament; or perhaps to Mr. Harper’s refusal to allow the motion on sex-selective abortions to come before Parliament. We could compare it to Mr. Harper’s refusal to support MP Maurice Vellacott’s private members bill supporting father’s rights; or to his refusal to return Canada to the traditional definition of marriage.

It’s time for conservatives to stop being played by our politician’s love for equivocation. If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck. If it walks on all four legs, looks like a cow and moos like a cow, it’s safe to say that it’s not a duck.

The Conservative Party has spent a lot of years "stringing along" their social conservative members; as long as these social conservative members don’t dig beneath the surface.

Conservative Canadians can sit around wishing on a star that the Conservative Party will adopt the policies of the Christian Heritage Party, so that they can support them with their vote. Or, they can face the facts! The Conservative Party will not jeopardize it’s position as one of Canada’s three big political parties by making a stand.

The only wasted vote in the 2015 federal election is the one that is wasted on a party that does not truly reflect the values that you believe are important. That’s a waste and that’s trusting in the worldly viewpoint that only the "big three" can affect governance in Canada. Canada needs you to insist on "traditional family values" not counterfeit values.

There is only one pro-life, pro-family, federal political party. What we say is unequivocal and clear. Join CHP Canada today and support true traditional family values.
