China Discovers the Value of Canada’s Christian Heritage

Author, Niall Ferguson, in his book Civilization quotes a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences as explaining the reason China has lagged behind Europe in rising to a dominant position.
“At first,” he said, “we thought it was your guns. You had better weapons than we did. Then we delved deeper and thought it was your political system. Then we searched deeper still, and concluded that it was your economic system. But for the past 20 years we have realised that it was in fact your religion, Christianity. It was the Christian foundation of social and cultural life in Europe that made possible the emergence first of capitalism, then of democratic politics.” What an eye opener for the western world today! Canada has joined most of the western world in throwing off the heritage that gave us our freedoms, our respect for one another, our political strength. We have replaced our freedom-nourishing heritage with the shackles of limited freedoms. We are free to say what we wish—as long as nobody is offended by what we say. We are free to go where we wish without government interference—as long as we don’t violate bubble zones, where freedoms of assembly and speech are not allowed. We are free to take the lives of fellow human beings—as long as their current address is in their mother’s womb. We have replaced the freedom of democratic politics with the shackles of strategic voting and party politics. Canada, like so many countries, has been impoverished by casting off our heritage, which had given us so much. As we look out from the barred windows of what Kathy Shaidle called, “A Tyranny of Nice”, we can only hope that truth will replace "nice"; freedom will replace government restrictions; respect for life will replace the convenience of killing the inconvenient; voting for the government we want will replace voting against the government we don’t want. Those, like the Chinese, who have lived under oppressive regimes, appreciate the value of our culture. Canadians who have recognised the value of our heritage and seek to retain that, are joining the CHP as the only political party that is willing to take a stand to protect against the loss of the culture that has shored up our freedoms these past centuries. CHP Canada will continue to fight to retain our Canadian culture. We need your voice united with other Canadians willing to make this stand. It’s time to step out geared for battle because if we won’t fight, we will lose everything worth defending.
