Are Christians Bigots and Terrorists?

I hope all of you followed, with concern, the story that recently unfolded in Nanaimo, B.C.
The Nanaimo City Council cancelled a motivational leadership convention scheduled to be held in their city, featuring speakers such as former first lady, Laura Bush, and Bishop Desmond Tutu, because “bigots” and “terrorists” hosted it. That’s to say, Christians!
One city councillor compared Christians to “Boco Haram,” an Islamic terrorist group which has committed a number of atrocities, including the recent kidnapping of 300. Did your jaw drop with horror that we could be compared with such a group?
But, that was only some of what they had to say.
The story of the May decision of Nanaimo’s city council was exposed by SunTV’s Ezra Levant, on June 23rd. The video shows a lot of the 20 minute discussion about the planned event and serious misrepresentations of Christians.
Ezra exposed the hypocrisy and slander and followed up by launching a website, raising legal fees, and visiting Nanaimo, where he talked with some of the councillors who had been involved in the decision.
We all owe Ezra a debt of gratitude as he fights the battles that too many of us, for some reason, haven’t the will to fight.
But, as a CHP member pointed out to me, what if Ezra Levant was not there to fight the battles for us? What if the onus was on Christians and we just couldn’t be bothered?
Who will fight these lonely, costly, and difficult battles? Who will protect the sanctity of life? Who will ensure that future generations are not mired in the debt that we’re racking up today? Who will promote the values that other political parties have rejected…such as respect for “the supremacy of God and the rule of law?”
What type of society has no respect for God? No respect for each other? No respect for the laws designed to keep us safe? No thought for the freedoms that past generation fought to preserve? No thought for equality of all? No thought for freedom of religion? No thought for freedom of thought, freedom of the press, or any of the other benefits that our Christian heritage has given us?
Canada needs the Christian Heritage Party preserving and shaping our societal values. If we lose our readiness to fight for our culture, who will take up the battle? It’s easy to sit back and await a hero riding in to defend all that we know is good but…heroes get tired of fighting these battles alone, waiting for reinforcements.
We’ve called on all of our members to step up their support for the Christian Heritage Party by inviting their friends and family to join and to unite with us in preserving the great heritage that is ours.
We invite all of our guests receiving the Communiqué to join with us in defence of our nation. We have a culture that is well worth preserving. We have a culture that is worth defending; it is our children’s rightful inheritance. We must not squander it nor allow it to be diminished.
In the face of Ezra Levant’s energetic defence of freedom, Nanaimo city council backed down. They even offered an apology to those offended by council’s decision but…were you in the battle? Have you been in the battle to prevent Law Societies across Canada from refusing to allow law graduates from Trinity Western University to practice law? This shameless attempt to exclude the Christian world view from the public square and the courts of this land should have every one of us on our feet. In recent years, so many court decisions have run counter to the freedoms and values we all cherish. The attempt to eliminate Christian values from legal training is a blatant departure from our historic legal traditions. We must not sit still and accept an atheistic judicial oligarchy.
The war is heating up. If we back away from every battle then the war will be lost. Canada will still be here but Canadians will not be free or equal. Why do I say both freedom and equality will be lost?
In the lack of discernment of current governments, we are told that all world views are equal and right. However, common sense tells us that mutually-exclusive truth claims cannot both be correct. We in the CHP support the equal treatment of women (both born and pre-born). Others say it is all right to discriminate based on special rights for one gender. Both views cannot be correct. Who decides? We believe all Canadians should be treated equally, regardless of age, gender, race, or religion. Others believe that some groups deserve special rights. As George Orwell put it so well in his book, Animal Farm, “some are more equal than others.” Who decides? If a government body can ban public events because they don’t share the world view of an event sponsor, how can we consider Canada a nation of freedom and equality?
If we are not free to voice opinions, not free to book a hall for an event, not free to hear the unbiased news reported, are we really free?
Canadian culture stands precariously at the edge of a cliff. Will you stand by and let it fall or will you say “enough!” and join the battle—not just to preserve one small element of our heritage, but the world view that is the foundation of every freedom. Will you stand for life? Will you stand for freedom? Will you stand for equality? Will you stand for the Christian world view that we share and that alone makes possible freedom and dignity for every Canadian?
