A Leadership Team Emerges

The temperatures outside were chilly as the CHP National Board met in Durham, Ontario this past week, but inside your national board worked on a busy agenda and awaited our Interim Leader’s announcement of his chosen deputy leader.
We were delighted to receive the announcement that Peter Vogel, well known to most of us through the various roles he has fulfilled, will be our Interim Deputy Leader until the November 8th Convention.
David J. Reimer, our Interim Leader, has chosen well the person he wishes to lead alongside of him through the next few months. We need to train the next generation of leaders who take the Christian Heritage Party into the future. This melding of youth and experience in our leaders will ensure that CHP Canada is prepared for the “long haul.”
David was introduced to you in the Spring Update. He joined the CHP before our founding convention and has served six times as a candidate. David is a pastor from Steinbach, Manitoba. He has served the Christian Heritage Party as Prayer, Ethics and Personnel Director (PEP) and Deputy Leader.
Both David and Peter have served as candidates and thus are able to assist our candidates in the by-elections we will face over the next few months. They are able to work together within the structures we have in place, to continue preparations for election 2015.
Both Peter and David have served as President of their Provincial Councils, David in Manitoba and Peter in Ontario, which involves the vision for building and uniting a team.
Peter has been involved in CHP activities from a young age. He attended his first convention when he was fourteen and has gone to every one since.
Peter advises, “I have been involved in my local board in Durham, have served as Vice-President and President of Ontario, and at the last convention I was elected as National Vice-President.”
Since the last convention, Peter married Rebecca and they have now been happily married for over a year. David and Katharine are 45-year veterans of married life.
Peter’s response to David’s request that he serve alongside him was, “Both Rebecca and I were humbled by David Reimer’s request to serve as Deputy Leader, but are united in our desire to serve well with the gifts we have been given.”
The national board knows that this will be a very positive and productive interim leadership team for the next seven months. We are proud to present them to you and encourage your participation in the building activities of the next few months.
