The Biggest Challenge

After a recent speaking engagement, I was asked, "What is the biggest challenge you face in your riding?" I only had time for a short answer: "The biggest challenge we face is convincing Christians to support an openly Christian politician working for an openly Christian political party." Further thought and reflection has led me to a somewhat lengthier answer to this question. These two components are intimately tied together. The more support CHP Canada receives--in volunteers, members and donations--the easier it will be to show our relevance to all. The Conservative Party of Canada has been the party of choice for most Christians for years. Typically, when Christians believe that there are no palatable alternatives, they either vote for the CPC (in spite of their qualms of conscience over the CPC's lack of support for moral principles), or they do not vote at all. The Reform Party (from which the CPC evolved), had seemed for a time to offer an opportunity to implement conservative principles, but now that the progressives--the old 'Red Tories'--have taken over, the Conservative Party has little or no room for principled politicians--and little to offer principled Canadians. Christians who have been working from the inside of that party for more than 20 years are pretty much where they were in the mid-'80s--kept outside the policy--making inner circle, and only used as window-dressing to attract Christian voters. Canada needs a real alternative on the so-called 'right' working on behalf of Canadians for less government and more liberty. This to balance the role of the Green Party, which functions as an alternative on the 'left', pressuring the NDP, Liberals, and Conservatives by the very fact that they have grown in relevance and influence. CHP Canada acts as a counter-balance to the clamours for bigger government, by offering a voice of reason to limit the scope and reach of government. The renewal of the Christian Heritage Party is what Stephen Harper fears the most, because CHP Canada is the sole alternative on the 'right'. In order to become that 'immovable signpost' to prevent Canada from moving farther to the left--and to actually have the issues about which conservatives are passionate moved to the foreground in the political arena--we need to experience significant growth in membership and support. The only way that small 'c' conservatives will make any difference in Canada is by supporting CHP Canada--the only truly conservative party in Canada! Why is it so important to strengthen the voice of the 'right'? Because Canada has become a rudderless nation, attempting to build on a foundation of sand. Because small 'c' conservatives use history as a tool for a better tomorrow; seeking to learn from past mistakes and to preserve and strengthen for the future that which has served our nation well. The issue of immigration is one area where CHP Canada distinguishes itself as uniquely conservative. Although our nation has a distinctly Judeo-Christian history and identity, it has become apparent that our wide open approach to immigration has severely confused our identity and should it continue, we are in danger of losing both it and the historical liberty which it affords all citizens. Canada's roots are firmly embedded in the biblical rule of law found in the Bible. CHP Canada is the only political party that is willing and determined to recognize this fact and to defend our identity. It is for this reason that CHP Canada's position regarding immigration is that immigrants must be made aware before they enter Canada that they are to abide by the Common Law code which embodies Christian moral values and principles and that they have an obligation to respect Canada's laws and heritage (that is our Christian heritage)! This not because we want to "impose" Christianity on prospective immigrants, but because we want them to know that there is a rock solid foundation upon which to build a truly free society -- that it is only with God's immutable rule of law as our basis that we can then honestly and fairly "legislate" morality. Immigration is only one of the areas where Canada needs to be served by principled politicians; but it is one that Canadians need to recognize as vital to the continuation of ours as a free and democratic society. CHP Canada believes in defending the protective principles found in our Christian heritage. As a political party comprised of members bonded together with a good understanding of how a biblical worldview applies to civil government, we can work together for a stronger Canada. Make the move and join us today!
