Prime Ministerial Flag-Raising

Tue, June 20, 2023   |   Author: Rod Taylor   |   Volume 30    Issue 25 | Share: Gab | Facebook | Twitter

A flag means something. A national flag is a symbol of national identity, honouring our country, our heroes and our history. The rainbow-coloured ‘pride flag’ is a symbol of national decay. When the Prime Minister of Canada raises the ‘pride flag’ (now modified to give special focus to the transgender subset of the LGBTQ ‘woke’ crowd) . . . and when he does so on Parliament Hill with great fanfare and media attention . . . he is declaring the ascendancy and dominance of the movement dedicated to undermining traditional family structures and traditional moral values (yes, the families and the values that built Canada and made us—until recently—loved and respected throughout the world).

On Thursday, June 8, 2023, the Prime Minister participated in a ‘pride flag’-raising ceremony in front of Canada’s Parliament buildings. He spoke—as he often does—about a rising tide of “hatred and homophobia” in Canada. Just as he characterized truckers and their supporters with pejorative adjectives during the Freedom Convoy, calling them “extremists, racists, misogynists . . . science-deniers . . . hateful, etc.,” Mr. Trudeau now takes the approach that any concern for the early sexualization, desensitization and grooming of our nations’ children represents a tide of hatred for those who have chosen a non-traditional sexual lifestyle.

Our Prime Minister gave us insight into his own views on parents and family, when he lumped parental rights in with “far right” views and said, “Far-right political actors are trying to outdo themselves with the types of cruelty and isolation they can inflict on these already vulnerable people.”

He further sought to inflame those present at the Rainbow Railroad Freedom Party, in Toronto, by saying, “Right now, trans kids in New Brunswick are being told they don’t have the right to be their true selves, that they need to ask permission.”

Who is New Brunswick seeking to involve in the discussion? The parents, whose role of guiding their underaged children was being usurped by the schools. Parents offer guidance to their children out of love for their children—not love for a cause that will harm them.

Those who have been long-time supporters of traditional marriage between one man and one woman and the strengthening of the family unit consisting of a married father and mother and—usually—children, have often heard and seen these misrepresentations of our motives and goals. For the general public, however, the brazen statements and claims made by the PM and dutifully repeated by the government-subsidized media may seem like an objective analysis of human behaviour and trends, rather than a carefully-contrived smear campaign designed to discredit legitimate concerns and silence voices that might otherwise be raised.

Historically, the raising of a national flag is symbolic of military victory (either recent or in the more distant past) and the legitimate sovereignty of a national government. That’s why, traditionally, many municipalities fly the Canadian flag, the provincial flag and the municipal flag, showing allegiance to those three levels of elected government under which laws and bylaws are enacted.

When another flag is introduced, it symbolizes at least recognition of and cooperation with another organization or government. The ‘pride flag,’ like the black flag of ISIS, is meant to proclaim the victory of the LGBTQ movement over society as a whole and is meant to elicit acceptance and even approval from citizens. In fact, the activist arm of the LGBTQ movement demands nothing less. And—owing to a desire not to be construed as “hateful” or “bigoted”—many civic leaders, business figures and news and entertainment personages have adopted an attitude of obsequious approval. Their cooperation and submission to the movement has paved the way for flagrant abuse of moral constraints that were once universally shared.

The Prime Minister has taken cheap shots at Canadians who care and whose deeply-held convictions cannot be shaken by deceitful accusations or the winds of untethered public opinion. We endure his taunts and threats, knowing that our security lies not in the hands of an unjust accuser but in the faithfulness of our loving Creator . . . the One who made us male and female and who has committed to us His remarkable word of revelation and comfort, the Holy Bible. By His precepts, we will live and we trust Him to raise His banner over us, long after the symbols of pride and rebellion have vanished from the earth.
