The fire of Moloch was fed with the cries of first-born children, tossed into the consuming flames that turned lives into ashes. This sacrifice was the supposedly "necessary" act to obtain from this evil Ammonite god the wish that was upon the heart of the mother or father.

This incinerator was made of brass, a human body with the head of a bull, it had outstretched hands that the children were deposited into and an oven below which was heated high to burn the child quickly. Drums were beaten to muffle the cries of the child so the one making the offering would not be moved by the fear-filled cries and change their minds.

So many children burned up to satisfy a desire or want to fulfill a comfort in their lives. And what was done with the remains after it was all over? What was done with the ashes of the human lives burned to nothing by the raging flames? They were swept up and thrown into a "garbage dump" called Tophet. So little respect for a human being who has wronged nobody! What a price to pay for the frivolous wants of another!

This was the accepted practice in the land of the Bible. God told His people not to do this despicable act but many did not listen and took part anyway. Even Solomon was swayed by his foreign wives to build a place of worship to Moloch where “they had their sons and daughters pass through the fire.”

We might say that those were the times then but not now. Nobody could do such an evil thing in our recent times. History shows in detail that evil came in the form of Adolph Hitler and brought atrocities to our world in the many ways he chose to express himself. Winston Churchill said: “Hitler had conjured up the fearful idol of an all-devouring Moloch of which he was the priest and incarnation.”

So when Hitler died did evil die and leave our world, never to return? Or is it possible evil is still with us but has turned to others to be its high priests and supporters? Hitler orchestrated the death of many including six million Jews.

It is estimated that in excess of three million Canadian children have had their lives brought to an end to satisfy the comfort of their mother, father, or both. That is 3,000,000 lives turned over to the hands of priests of Moloch to bring destruction to those innocent lives.

Would it bother the comfort of the person in the church pew to know how many Canadian babies have died through abortion? Would the pastor preach with strength and a broken heart about the lives that have been rendered null and void? Why do so few stand up and cry out with pain and shame that we can allow such a thing in our land? Do we care?

These numbers are even more horrific when we look at the total abortions worldwide this year alone. The result is the same today as it was in the days of Moloch. A child's life is ended, broken in pieces, or whatever method, rounded up, thrown into a garbage bag, then thrown into a hot oven so the limbs will be burned up and turned into ashes. When the ash is high in this oven it is taken and thrown into our garbage dumps. Human lives cast away like mere garbage.

When the work of Hitler and his cohorts was exposed the world was in shock! And again, when people realize what this evil truly is, that we are feeding Moloch anew with our children, we will weep with pain.

But there is hope, because in 2011 researchers in the US gathered results of 15,575 women who were offered an ultrasound of the baby. Of those, 6,542 women chose to look at the ultrasound and 130 women changed their minds and did not have the planned abortion. These children were spared the garbage dump.

Times are changing. It is written: “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their evil ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14.)
