The Earth, 5G, and Me
Why have seventy-seven 5G towers been set afire in the UK? Why have 5G towers in other countries — including Canada — also been burned? Why would people commit arson to stop 5G technology? I have looked at the arrival of the 5G network with some concern because, like many of you, I’m seeing many emails about the harmful effects of 5G. I had to ask if there was real reason for concern.
The first challenge was getting past my own lack of knowledge. I had figured if I just avoid a 5G smartphone I should be okay because my phone wouldn’t use the 5G waves. But it turns out that it will not be quite so easy to avoid this new wave of technological change. This article tells us, “to ensure a reliable 5G signal, there needs to be a lot of 5G cell towers and antennas everywhere. We’re talking on every lamppost, traffic light, etc. because even trees can block 5G signals.”
5G antennas everywhere? This is something to really sit up and take notice of. It means that we will all receive millimetre waves going through our bodies. Further to that, there will be 50,000 low altitude 5G satellites in our skies.
But is that a problem? Haven’t we always adapted to new things? Former President of Microsoft Canada, Frank Clegg, has expressed concern about our implementation of 5G technology. His concern caused him to start an organization called Canadians for Safe Technology directed to educate Canadians about exposure to unsafe levels of radiation from technology.
As usual, children are more vulnerable to any harmful effects, and these effects might not be noticed immediately. Will our children’s future health be sacrificed by this experiment?
Dr. Martha Herbert, PHD, MD Harvard Medical School, Director, Treatment Research and Neuroscience Evaluation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders, has said, “I think there is enough strong scientific support to argue that EMF/RFRs [Electric and magnetic fields and Radio frequency radiation] are important contributors to degrading the optimal chemical-electrical function of our bodies – thereby detuning our brains and nervous systems.”
Microwave ovens are found in most kitchens. They, like 5G millimetre waves, operate between 300 MHz and 300 GHz. We practice caution because the microwaves are damaging to us. Can we be assured that the millimetre waves are harmless for us when the rationale for them being harmless is that, like microwaves, they operate in the “safe zone” between 300 MHz and 300 GHz?
Has our interference with the earth’s electromagnetic field already caused health issues? I don’t know but, 180 scientists from 36 countries have called on the European Union to enact “a moratorium on the roll-out of the fifth generation, 5G, for telecommunication until potential hazards for human health and the environment have been fully investigated”. Before we put the only life sustaining planet we know, under the “millimetre wave”, we should pause and spend some time in research.
Precaution! What a simple concept! When we see such a lack of it by our current Liberal Government, (reckless spending, unconstitutional power-grabs etc.) shouldn’t we ask if it is truly being applied in this case?
Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy my smartphone. Everything I need travels with me as part of my Cloud. If I want something that I left on my computer at home, it’s not a problem because it’s all available on my smartphone. Who wouldn’t think this is great? I get very irritated when my internet is slow or sporadic. My internet provider has listened to my complaints for years. I want internet available all the time, in every room, without ups and downs during the Friday, weekend and summer slow periods.
But, we do have only one planet that we can live on. Technology has come up with something new and, in our desire for better online access, we have raced into it without checking out its effects on our home planet. This is not wise as there is no “Plan B” if the negative effects that we are being warned about are true.
This site warns us, “If the telecommunications industry’s plans for 5G come to fruition, no person, no animal, no bird, no insect and no plant on Earth will be able to avoid exposure, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to levels of RF radiation that are tens to hundreds of times greater than what exists today, without any possibility of escape anywhere on the planet.”
That really has to be where the “rubber meets the road”. Again, there is no “Plan B”. The threat of “Global Warming” has been thrown in our face for years because of the possible effect some claim it may have in 50 - 100 years. But 5G has the potential to make us like live frogs in a pot of water slowly coming to a boil. We won’t know why things have changed. We will not notice the change that affects us over time… or will we? Maybe that change will be fast and catastrophic.
CHP Canada believes that it’s better to slow down and do the research into new technology before we implement it rather than looking back over our dying planet and wishing we had taken the time to properly investigate 5G.
It’s time to face up to our job as stewards of our environment and take that job seriously. Join CHP Canada, today! Your membership matters to the future of this country!
