About John

My wife Garma and I have been married a little over 50 years and have resided in Oxford County since 1967.  We are still involved in farm operations every day. We are blessed with 4 children and 15 grandchildren, one of which has gone home to be with the Lord. I have been a farmer in the Beachville area for my entire life with three children who are actively involved in farming, and my fourth child is in the Grand Rapids area, with her husband being involved in property management.

In leadership roles, I have been a chairman and elder many times in my local church. I was president of Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO) from 1993 to 1997, where I had the privilege of meeting many farm leaders and government officials including Minister of Finance and Agriculture, both provincially and federally. I was officially appointed by the Honourable Ernie Hardeman for a 3-year term to the Normal Farm Practices Tribunal.

I am presently a member of the Oxford Land Division committee and in the local CFFO board. My wife and I are currently members of Bethel United Reformed Church in Woodstock, Ontario.
