Since the beginning of human history, decent folks have lamented the tragedy of suicide. We still do. When one of our citizens takes his or her own life, we recognize this as a failure of our society to encourage and uplift every individual who may be vulnerable to the temptation to “end it all.”

Was there ever a better commercial than the one advertising “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”? The celebratory music rings out as the parent joyfully traverses the aisles of the store preparing for Back to School. The children, somber, trudge behind with their faces a huge contrast to their joyful parent.

Prime Minister Carney has again failed Canadians, and once again—with the help of taxpayer funded CBC—he’s working hard to enrage Canadians and to blame US President Donald J. Trump for his failures. Canada went into trade negotiations with the US and came up short. Now Mr. Carney wants credit for “standing up for Canadians” and for “walking away from a bad deal.”

In the past six months, we’ve seen a number of shape-shifting defections of MPs from the Conservative Party of Canada. In some cases, the newly-minted Liberal MPs have begun expressing entirely different views then those they claimed were their deeply-held convictions only a short time before. We’re seeing the same thing happening in British Columbia...

Some things in life are mutually exclusive. Logic tells us that the same statement cannot be both mutually exclusive and mutually inclusive. However, that may be one of the contradictory statements that our current Prime Minister wants us to believe. Smokey the Bear is wrong in stating that “Only you can prevent forest fires.” Many fires in our forested areas are the result of lightening strikes; we must have the resources available to combat these also. We can reduce our impact through such things as not throwing cigarettes out the car window and not being careless with fires in a high fire zone. But, in a country that is 40% forest, we must be proactive and ensure that we are well invested in forest fire management, wisdom and equipment.

What is the relationship between hope and crime? What about the relationship between the absence of hope and poverty? There is a very important relationship. Our heritage points us to the God of hope who gives to each of us hope for the future.

AI has been a concern since ancient times, from the battle the Israelites lost at Ai, to concerns highlighted in movies about AI, to the location of AI data centres, people have grappled with this subject. Why must we exercise our powers of discernment as both Christians and Canadians in our consideration of Artificial Intelligence? Read on!

Was the Parliamentary Ethics Committee created to ensure elected politicians and the federal government conduct their business in a morally ethical manner? Our money is screaming out! It’s begging for the answers to: When did it become the taxpayer’s responsibility to guarantee profit to developers? And should the government pick winners and losers to protect the financial security of the wealthy?
