The Snare Is Being Set

Rod TaylorEvery trapper knows that when a trap is set out for any bird or animal, the usefulness of the trap depends on it being concealed or disguised. Experienced trappers going after wily fur bearers, like wolverines, martens and foxes, often camouflage their traps with branches and use various oils to cover the scent of man.

Proverbs 1:17 says that if a bird sees you “spreading a net” to catch him, the effort will be wasted. He won’t fall for it….

Jeremiah 5:26 says that there are wicked men among us who set snares or traps to “catch men.”

Today, there are wicked men in Canada who are setting traps for Christians. Bill C-9 is one of those traps. It is disguised as the “Combatting Hate Act.” It is meant to catch people speaking the truth and charge them with “hate.”

Bill C-22 is another snare disguised as a necessary tool for law enforcement. With lengthy passages of legalese it is said to be for the purpose of allowing government agents access to the personal information of suspected criminals…to track them, their location, movement and communications. In this bill, officers who have a “reasonable suspicion” can demand, from telecommunications providers, access to the personal information of their customers. They can also require the service provider to conceal that request. What qualifies as “reasonable suspicion”? Great question! Because once agents have access to your data, they may be able to use new “hate crime” definitions to lay charges.

Bill C-2, the so-called Strong Borders Act, is not really an attempt to improve Canada’s porous borders (something we would actually support). The name belies its purpose. They don’t want the “birds” to see them “spreading the net.” This bill is designed to make cash obsolete in time and force citizens to accept digital ID and digital currency, which will allow the government to better track and control how and where you spend your money. Bill C-2 makes it illegal to use more than $10,000 cash on a given purchase, even if that purchase is spread out over multiple payments. By making cash inconvenient and reducing the amount of cash in circulation, the government is attempting to reduce resistance to its promotion of digital ID and digital currency. Ultimately, when they have worn down the opposition, they expect to be able to take the final steps with only a small remnant of resistors…who can then be forced to comply by the use of harsher measures, like frozen bank accounts, etc. But who can complain about a bill called the “Strong Borders Act”? Incidentally, this bill also allows law enforcement to access online info from service providers…in some cases “without a warrant.” What could go wrong?

Bill C-8 overlaps with C-22. I don’t understand why they need to make two new laws with the same objectives, but perhaps they’re trying to confuse or overwhelm citizen-voters with too much information, too many bills to track, too many battles to fight. C-8 would also specifically allow—or demand—that online and telecommunications service providers cut off services of specified individuals. Companies could be required to cut off services from individuals without notification and may be ordered not to alert or inform the affected customer. Failure to cooperate with these orders would result in a $10 million fine for the first offence.

Then there is the Firearms Confiscation Program, cleverly misnamed the Firearms Compensation Program that seeks, step-by-step to disarm Canadians. Technical violations of the Firearms Act or refusal to surrender legally-acquired and legally-possessed firearms that are now deemed illegal by the Public Safety Minister could result in the confiscation of all firearms, a ban on future possession, Administrative Monetary Penalties (huge fines) and even jail time. While government bureaucrats and federal enforcement agencies are chasing law-abiding sport shooters and hunters, it has become known that—to their shame—the RCMP returned firearms to the home of the Tumbler Ridge shooter prior to the tragic mass shooting on February 10, 2026.

When examined together, with the backdrop of the appalling ruling of the BC Human Rights Tribunal against Chilliwack School Trustee Barry Neufeld ($750,000 fine for declaring there are only two sexes and calling the SOGI program in BC public schools “child abuse”), it’s obvious that Prime Minister Carney and his Liberal/ Bloc/NDP colleagues are laying snares for Canadians who resist being controlled by politicians and bureaucrats. They are creating for themselves the administrative and enforcement tools with which they will be able to harass and torture Canadians into submission for their desired “New World Order.”

There’s a meme being posted around that says, “You can vote yourselves into socialism but you’ll have to fight your way out.” Tyrants do not easily or willingly give up power. It’s time for those of us who know the difference between right and wrong, between male and female, between globalism and the sovereignty of God, to step up to the plate, to pray as if our lives and freedoms depended on it, to pour our efforts into educating and mobilizing our fellow citizens and taking back (by passionate but peaceful efforts) the political structures of our nation, our provinces, our municipalities.

Proverbs 6:5 says, “Deliver yourself like a deer from the hunter, like a bird from the fowler.” We have a responsibility to act now. When the trap is sprung, when tyranny has overtaken a land, dissent is criminalized and conscientious objectors are punished. We and our elected representatives must wake up and act now before it is too late. We in the CHP are standing in the gap; we can use your help in these days of imminent danger. Find us at chp.ca
