Marc Slingerland is a high school teacher and principal of an independent school west of Lethbridge. He holds graduate degrees in Chemistry and in Educational Leadership from the University of Lethbridge.
Marc is convinced of the need for a firm moral grounding for government, leading him to get involved in the Christian Heritage Party as a riding association board member since 2002, and as a federal election candidate in 2006 in Lethbridge and in 2008 and 2011 in the Macleod constituency - renamed Foothills for the 2015 election.
Canada is one of the best countries in the world, blessed with natural abundance and with creative and hard-working citizens. Our nation’s heritage is based in Judaeo-Christian values, recognizing the supremacy of God and the rule of law. Along with other CHP members and candidates, Marc longs for a return to the values that built our nation, and will work to return respect for life and justice to Canadian politics.
Canada needs a principled government that does its limited task well, without overstepping its jurisdiction; a government that stays within its means and stops wasting money – millions every day! – on debt servicing fees; a government that ends corporate welfare and reduces red tape for small business.
Canada needs a government that strongly defends the exercise of citizens’ freedom of conscience and of religion, a government that is prepared to act quickly to introduce required legislation to prevent assisted suicide.
Canada needs a government that fights real pollution and takes seriously our responsibility for stewardship of the environment.
Canada needs a government that doesn’t just talk about pride in our military service personnel, but also provides them with the tools they need to do their job, and takes care of veterans.
Canada needs principled government – Canada needs the CHP and our Better Solutions!
