Legislation to mandate HPV vaccine for all 6th grade girls in Massachusetts-the state when Mitt Romney imposed same-sex ‘marriage’ despite citizen protests-was STOPPED in committee, despite heavy lobbying from ‘Big Pharma’.
CHP’s friends in “MassResistance” tell us that what was anticipated to be a “David and Goliath” battle ended in victory for parents. The Massachusetts Legislature’s Committee on Health Care Financing has informed MassResistance that Bill S102 “An act requiring immunization of children against human pampilloma virus” has been sent for “study”-apparently killing it for this session.
The bill was being pushed via a massive and expensive lobbying effort by Merck, the drug company that makes Gardasil-the vaccine against four of the 36 strains of HPV, which was bought by Ottawa at a cost of $300 million to Canadian taxpayers.
At the bill’s public hearing, a MassResistance contingent were the only ones testifying against it-but they presented powerful testimony and support material for each committee member.
“In addition,” says MassResistance chairman Rev. Michael Carl, “we made sure they knew that parents were going to fight this to the bitter end.”
S102 would have required an HPV vaccine to be given to all 6th-grade girls in the Commonwealth. Besides the ethical and moral issues of forcing a vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease on young girls, the vaccine has been widely criticized for being untested in the long term-and for being dangerous, and ineffective, says Rev. Carl.
Gardasil is still being mandated in some Canadian provinces.
